Alan is an international marine finance and investment professional with more than 40 years’ experience up to Director & Senior Vice President level in banks and financial institutions and as a private consultant.
He is METL’s main lecturer in Economics of Sea Transport and International Trade, a regular contributor to Lloyds Maritime Academy seminars and is a noted speaker at international shipping conferences. He has also provided witness statements and testimony as a financial expert in international maritime disputes.
His most recent consultancy activities have been as a private consultant acting for third parties in the development of alternative funding sources for international shipping post the banking crisis of 2008; the identification and development of finance advisory and financing activities in emerging markets; the development of leading edge shipping credit risk software to international shipping finance banks and institutions for BIS II implementation of Capital Adequacy and Credit & Transaction Ratings.
