Richard Clayton

Richard Clayton is Chief Correspondent at Lloyd’s List. He joined the world’s oldest newspaper in mid-2017 after more than 30 years at Fairplay magazine, now part of IHS Markit. At Fairplay he served as markets reporter, news editor, and editor of Fairplay Daily News, editor of Fairplay and Chief Correspondent. He has travelled extensively in Europe, the Middle East and Asia Pacific, watching the maritime industry develop. That has given him an international insight into the maritime world whilst also understanding local requirements. With Lloyd’s List he has led the content on a portfolio of business briefings, webinars, CEO round tables, seminars and awards that seeks to drive excellence in the maritime industry. In addition he has delivered keynote speeches at IMO and shipping association events and researched white papers on critical issues such as future fuels, next-generation technology and industry trends. Much of the insight gained at these events is fed into Lloyd’s List’s online, magazines and newsletters.
